Executive Leadership Team

The current executive leadership team including Cierra Olivia Thomas-Williams (Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence), Skye Ashton Kantola (Multicultural Efforts to End Sexual Assault), and Tammy Themel (AccessABILITY). Together they organize Task Force meetings and efforts and support the other subcommittees.


Branding, Marketing, Web-mastering Subcommittee

Jen Milharcic (self-advocate) and Skye Ashton Kantola (MESA/self-advocate) are the co-chairs of this subcommittee. They have worked on developing a brand guide and logo for IDJ, establishing the new IDJ website, and managing the email listerv.


Community Strengths and Needs Assessment Subcommittee

This subcommittee is chaired by Skye Ashton Kantola (MESA/self-advocate) and includes Jen Milharcic (self-advocate), Jae Chul Lee (Indiana Institute on Disability and Community, Indiana University), and Alicia Hazelwood (parent of a child with a disability). The objective of this subcommittee is to make edits to the 2019 Community Strengths and Needs Assessment and relaunch it in 2020 to understand the current experiences of people with disabilities with healthy sexuality education, body autonomy, interdependence, and sexual violence. Once data is collected the subcommittee will publish the results as a report and as a series of infographics.


Organizational Assessment Tool Subcommittee

This subcommittee is chaired by Tammy Themel (AccessABILITY) and includes Jackie McCracken (Village of Merici), Kim Dodson (Arc of Indiana), and Skye Ashton Kantola (Multicultural Efforts to End Sexual Assault). The goal of the subcommittee is to to improve the organizational assessment tool piloted in 2019 that can be used by disability service agencies in Indiana to assess and improve their capacity to prevent violence and support wellness among people with disabilities in Indiana.


Educational Resources Subcommittee

This subcommittee is on hold as we identify a new chair. Additional members include: Alicia Hazelwood (parent of a child with disabilities), Amber O’haver (INSILC), Angela K McGinnis (parent of an adult with disabilities), Cathleen Nine-Altevogt (Adult Protective Services), Cierra Olivia Thomas-Williams (Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence), Haleigh Rigger (Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking), Heather Dane (Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services), Jackie McCracken (Village of Merici), Jen Milharcic (self-advocate), Jordan Haisley (self-advocate), Kelsey Cowley (Self-Advocates of Indiana), Kim Dodson (Arc of Indiana), Lisa Wells (Down Syndrome Indiana), Melissa Keyes (Indiana Disability Rights), Micca Stewart (Bureau of Quality and Improvement Services), Phillip Parnell (Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, Inc.), Richard Propes (Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services), Skye Kantola (Multicultural Efforts to End Sexual Assault), Tammy Themel (AccessABILITY). The goal of the group is to create educational publications (essays, videos, illustrations, infographics, etc) regarding peer-reviewed literature and/or Indiana State legislation about and for people with disabilities, service providers, and caregivers, especially regarding violence prevention and disability justice.


Online Resource Hub Subcommittee

This subcommittee is chaired by Jody Powers (Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities). The co-editors in chief are Heather Dane (Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services) and Richard Propes (Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services). Additional editors include Kat Chappell (Indiana Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities), Micca Stewart (Bureau of Quality and Improvement Services), and Jen Milharcic (self-advocate). The goal of the subcommittee is to manage the Task Force Online Resource Hub and facilitate the successful publication of submissions related to disability justice and violence prevention on the hub.


Webinar Subcommittee

This subcommittee is chaired by Cierra Olivia Thomas-Williams (Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence) and also includes Alicia Hazelwood (parent of a child with a disability), Angela K McGinnis (parent of an adult with disabilities), Jen Milharcic (self-advocate), Micca Stewart (Bureau of Quality and Improvement Services), and Skye Kantola (Multicultural Efforts to End Sexual Assault). The goal of the subcommittee is to organize, facilitate, and evaluate 5 webinars related to sexual violence prevention and disability justice each year.
